Smokefree England
From 6am Sunday the 1st of July 2007 the much publicised smoking ban will become law in England.
The aim of the legislation is to ensure a healthier environment for non-smokers when nearly all enclosed public places and workplaces in England will become smokefree.
The new law will also cover public transport and work vehicles used by more than one person as these need to be smokefree.
Staff smoking rooms and indoor smoking areas will be prohibited, so staff members or clients visiting will have to go outside if they want to smoke
Smoking could also be banned at outdoor locations that are considered to be substantially enclosed, such as football grounds, bus teriminals and railway platforms.
For detailed information and guidance it is wise to visit the official website, as failure to display signs and enforce the law could result in hefty fines, not only for the smoking culprits, but the owners of the premises as well.
