British Hairdressing Awards Finalists Announced
With a record number of entries in all 13 categories, the British Hairdressing Business Awards has announced the finalists for 2007. Recognising and rewarding excellence in all aspects of business practice, the awards are now in their ninth year and have grown in stature, rewarding the entrepreneurial expertise of the UK’s leading hairdressers.

“The standard, quality and quantity of entries produced this year was exceptional,” comments Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr. “The number of entries in all categories has increased tremendously and each year the judges job gets harder and harder. The UK produces so many fantastic hairdressing businesses and the British Hairdressing Business Awards recognises their business skills and acumen.”

The judging process is held over two days, with two representatives from each of the sponsors – Wella Professionals, Schwarzkopf Professional, Fudge, Racoon International, Clynol Salon Exclusive, Sabre, Sebastian Professional, L’Oreal Professionnel, Hairaisers, Veaudry and Welonda taking part in the first day.

Judges cannot confer with one another during the judging process, with the individual judges marking all entries independently.

The top six entries in each category are put forward to the next round of the judging process. An independent

panel of judges including web designers, interior designers, and journalists from City AM, www.marieclaire.co.uk, Real Business Magazine, The Daily Telegraph and The Times, along with independent industry experts, judge these dossiers.

The judges go through the same process as before marking each entry individually. In some categories, salons may receive mystery client visits or calls, and one-to-one interview sessions with the finalists of Junior of the Year, Manager of the Year and Business Director of the Year will take place. The winners of all 13 categories will be announced at the glittering black tie event on Monday, 10th September 2007 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr, concludes, “The passion and professionalism of the businesses who entered the British Hairdressing Business Awards was a credit to the hairdressing industry and everyone on the short list can be justifiably proud.”
